Where God Dwells

Tabernacle · Ark · Temple · Jesus · You

The Bible's great story isn't only that God is real — it's that He wants to live with His people. Follow God's presence from a tent in the wilderness, to the Temple, to Jesus 'God with us,' all the way to the most surprising dwelling of all: His people today.

  1. 1
    The Tabernacle

    A tent in the wilderness

    The Tabernacle

God moves in. At Mount Sinai He gives Israel the plan for a tent so the holy God can camp right in the middle of His people as they travel — grace pitched at the center of the camp.

    The Ark of the Covenant

    Where heaven met earth

    The Ark of the Covenant

The throne of His presence. At the very heart of the tent sat the golden Ark — the meeting place where God promised, 'There I will meet with you.'

  3. 3
    The Temple

    God's house in Jerusalem

    The Temple

A permanent home. Solomon builds a glorious Temple in Jerusalem, and the glory-cloud of God fills the house so completely the priests can't stand to minister.

    Jesus — God With Us

    The Word became flesh

    Jesus — God With Us

God with us, in person. 'The Word became flesh and dwelt among us.' In Jesus, God no longer fills a building — He comes as one of us, the true temple where heaven and earth meet.

    The Church & You

    God's dwelling today

    The Church & You

The most surprising temple of all. By His Spirit, God now lives in His people — in every believer, and in the church gathered together. 'Don't you know that you are God's temple?' You are where God dwells.
